How about some Saturday Afternoon Jazz to compliment last nights offering

Listening to the Joe Henderson that FE posted Friday night, inspired me to dig up some of the music I listened to in the early 70's.  All of these guys had established themselves years earlier and most are late in their careers when they played together and, eventually recorded on the Creed Taylor label.  That later collaboration with CTI started off great, but eventually devolved into some gooey, syrupy over-orchestrated elevator music...but they were/are great artists, nonetheless.  The last video is a special treat...way long before there was any goo..

Herbie's piano playing on Maiden Voyage is spiritual...with the whole crew -

Joe Henderson, tenor saxophone
Ron Carter on bass
Tony Williams on drums
Freddie Hubbard on trumpet
 Herbie Hancock on piano

Billy Cobham full bore on the drums...

...and, back to roots...Miles Davis - Herbie Hancock - Wayne Shorter - Ron Carter - tony williams
Stockholm 1963...
