Every historian’s dream find. Recently discovered by a Dutch history student in some dusty archive - the oldest Dutch East Indies company (VOC) share certificate known to date. Pieter Harmenszoon (“Son of Harmen”) purchased it in 1608 (402 years ago) for 150 guilders, actually quite a lot of money for those days. What makes the document even more special is that the other side contains a detailed record of dividends received through as late as 1650.
